What Is A “Mack Daddy?”

This is by far one of the most controversial videos you will ever lay eyes on.  It also happens to be one of the funniest at the same time but this video brings up a couple of questions.

Question – “If this were the words of a white preacher would this man be in jail.”
Question – “Should I be offended and demand an apology for being referred to as white folk?”

Is he right?  Is he wrong? You decide.  This is where I’m at.

I’m tired of being told what I can and can’t do.  I’m tired of people who will always have better health care than mine trying to reform mine.  I guess I’m tired of the professional politician who has lost touch with how the real world works.  I know how easy “losing touch can be.”  That’s why I have told my staff that I will always have one day a week, were I’ll personally cut, fork and chew my protein products; like bacon, ham, chicken, steak, fish etc.  I do this of my own free choice because this act alone keeps me grounded, but I still won’t pump my own gas.

Maybe it’s time you sit down and watch “Animal Farm.”  I watched it when I was a kid and still remember the story clearly.  Maybe James Manning is that “Ass” who sees the sign that reads;

“All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others”

Maybe this inequality is what drives him to act.  It makes his blood boil and finally he decides to “riot” against the professional politicians who only have their own interest at heart. Color is not my issue. Political Party is not my issue. It’s the people who are running this show, those selfish people who are slowly removing yours and my freedoms, those are “our issues.”

In the case of Dr. Manning, he’s just an ass in the barnyard asking you to act.

Below is  the ending from Animal Farm.  At 1:57 seconds you will see what I mean by “jackass who wants you to act.”

How I Became The Son Of Satan

I guess I wrote this Jerry Maguire esq.

Have you ever had a moment when you realized “that was a stupid thing to do?”  This was one of those moments.  For fun I Googled Real Estate Guru; the number was huge.  I saw the name of a guy that I knew who claimed to be a “Guru” but when I met him he had only bought his own home.

My introduction to the GURU world started when I bought a Discounted Note Course in the fall of 1993.  I later found out that my mentor was giving me advice from a book and not from his personal experience.  I paid $15,000 for a guy to “coach me from a book,” how friggin disappointing is that. I eventually learned the real estate business from books, tapes, trial and error but I got it.  Nothing is perfect; even now some of my deals are shit but that’s part of the game.

I was asked by a friend of mine to help build the Carleton Sheets coaching company in 1995.  Why would a guy who is so successful in Real Estate want to get into the coaching and mentoring business?  MONEY.  The speech is always that they want to give back but the bottom line is money.

I started teaching seminars for three (3) reasons and none of them centered on giving back.  I taught seminars for 1- money 2- network and 3- deals.  It is my opinion that anyone who “claims” to teach real estate investing to give back isn’t honest with himself / herself and here is the reason why.

If I buy a POS (that’s Piece Of S#&*) house and I tear it down to the frame and then rehab it back to inhabitable; that process can take some where between 60 and 180 days.  The profit on that is $12,000 to $24,000.  That’s a pretty good part time job if you can hit that mark every time.  2008 and 2009 has been a tough year for anyone in real estate.  The Guru looks around for an income stabilizer.  “If I can put 30 people in a hotel conference room and charge them $2,995 a head for three days of teaching and then sell them software and mentoring for another $2,995 to $25,000 as additional tools you will need to be successful.”  Not only did I make a lot of money for the “GURU and myself but I became the son of Satan in the process, why?  I knew that less than 5 percent of the “COACHES / MENTORS” knew what they were talking about or have invested in real estate.  Now if you ask some of my speaking colleges they will tell you “these people are seminar junkies who get their high from attending trainings.”  I think these are well-trained seminar attendees who have been taught that they will never be successful until they buy all of the guru’s courses and tapes.  They’re chasing a rainbow they’ll never catch because the guru will come up with something new time and time again.

Lets be honest you can only wholesale a deal some many ways.  You can only buy tax deeds some many ways or apartments or single-family homes.  If there are 1,420,000 guru listings on Google are there really that many ways to invest in real estate? Yet most of these knuckleheads couldn’t put a deal together to save their life.  They couldn’t tell you what a subordination agreement was or how to hypothecate an asset.  Even fewer can figure out the net present value of a future cash flow.  Most Gurus can’t even use a financial calculator.

“I don’t have the time for an HP10B, 12C, 17B or 19BII; I just use the “software that you should invest in and you’ll own it for $2,995 and $49.00 a month.

The guru has done their math and knows that if an ebook sells for $97.00 and they get 300,000 people to buy it, that’s a lot of money.  Why would they ever want to buy another building?

No, I’m not a GURU, A Guru is an innovator, a pioneer, someone who develops something new.  I’m a COACH.  I can take the information that you want to learn and I Coach you.  I help you learn the content then you get to go out and apply the content (information), I hold you accountable and I keep you motivated.  Coaching is about doing.  It’s not about buying the next course, seminar, bootcamp or book and tape series.

You can go to the library and learn how to invest in real estate.  The grandfather of most things in creative real estate is Ad Kessler.  Most everything else is a hash and re-hash of his techniques.

Am I doing this to sell my own stuff?  No, most of my stuff isn’t for sale anymore.  I have 20 years of real estate investing experience, I’ve made some great deals and some not so great deals, I’ve over leveraged myself and I’ve paid cash for properties.  I have all this stuff in my head and I don’t know what I want to do with it from a teaching perspective.  What I do know is that the mentor you paid $25,000 for, they probably have as much experience as that mouse next to your screen.

image421803167.jpgDo you remember the movie “Crazy “People?”. The movie starred Dudley Moore who was a guy in advertising. Dudley’s character wanted to tell the world the truth through his advertising slogans.

Sone of his most memorable slogans are;

“Drink Metamucil And You Won’t Die”
“Volvo – there boxie but their good”
“Drive a Jaguar and you’ll get a …..” – you get the drift.

His bosses wanted to put him in the nut house for speaking the truth.

I wonder what they would have done with the guy who did this?

From Reno NV someone has a sense of humor.

Mobile Blogging With iBlogger

image1103027327.jpgThis is a review of iblogger, the iPhone application that let’s you post to your blog. The cost is a little heavy at $9.99 but the reviews say that it’s a great tool for the super bloggers which of course I am.

The developer says that posting a photo is as easy as going to your library of photos or just talking a new one.

Since this is a post from my iphone through iblogger I’m going to try add a photo.

This is my bodyguard JCMix-A-Lot and I having a moment by the pool. Some idiot took a swipe at JC with a beer bottle and chipped his tooth. The guys not human, the bottle didn’t even phase him. It just caused a lot of blood,a chipped tooth and a smile of enjoyment. You can’t get muscle like that on the open market these days.

iBlogger works with many platforms. I’m a wordpress guy and so far I like what it can do.

Health Care Reform or Civil War

I haven’t really talked politics and I’ve done that on purpose.  I will always have my views and you will always have yours, why damage a friendship over something that won’t change.   But the ugliness of the “Health Care Reform” discussion is getting out of hand.   How we’re treating each other is out of hand.

Here is the sad truth; your wasting energy on a matter you have no control over.  Your politician was bought years ago by big businesses and by big corporations.  You and I arguing about issues will never solve anything and the ugliness that we’re showing to each other will never solve anything.  If this doesn’t stop it will escalate out of control.

I don’t believe is racism, I believe in “judgementalism.”  It’s a stolen idea from Malcom Gladwell’s book called Blink.  I will be the first to admit that I judge people based upon what I see and hear.  I judge people based upon their actions.  A couple of days ago I called some out for something they did.  Instead of making direct contact I vented my view publicly and later had to admit my wrongs publicly.  It’s ok, we’re all “judgementalists” but we also need to be open enough to reverse our judgments when proven other wise.  Make your judgment but hear the other party out, be open to their opinion and then decide if it’s valid.  I have many friends, associates and business partners and we disagree on a lot of things.  It’s ok to agree to disagree.

The core problem of the health care system can be found on your local television from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM during commercials.

“If you’ve been injured in an accident, lost money in the stock market, invested in real estate, been hit by a car or have had an erection longer than 4 hours, I can get you the money you deserve.”   Malpractice insurance has killed the health care system because everyone wants to sue everyone.  Why, its easy money.  The easy money drives up cost and makes a health care plan for the low income and self-employed and everyone for that matter almost impossible.

The health care reform poison is upon you.  Don’t let the ugly side take hold of your soul.  If you do, you and I, your neighbors and friends will be at each others throats until someone will say, “that’s it, I’m out of here” and we will revert back to 1861 and a secession will begin.

This is by far the nastiest part of Health care Reform that I have seen and in my opinion this person’s remarks are uncalled for.  She should be ashamed; the two goons next to her should be ashamed.

I’ve been to Germany and stood in the concentration camps.  My grandpa’s brothers we taken during the war.  The German Government requires every young person to attend the camps as part of their schooling and when I asked why “So We Don’t Make The Same Mistakes Again.”  Maybe the rest of the world should follow suit.

John Reese – I’m Calling You Out Part 2

If you missed yesterday’s post you need to start here or your going to be lost (Click Here)

Yesterday I called out John Reese (Click Here) for deleting his entire twitter following and “starting over” as he put it.  Not only did he respond through twitter but he wrote me a “kick in the gut” comment to my post.  Hang on for a second because we’re going to come back to what is now known in my camp as the “Reese Roundhouse” in just a second.

johnreeseOk, lets remove my emotion and look at Twitter logically.  Twitter was designed to “conversate with others.”  The problem is only a few of the so called Guru’s do.  Lets start with just three that don’t; Frank Kern, Mike Filsaime and Shoemoney.  Lets look at three who have “conversated” with @ reply’s

johnchowcoachdebjohnreeseIn May I was teasing John Chow about he being part of the secret elite that controled the internet.  In June I welcomed CoachDeb to the world of MacBook and yesterday I got the “Reese Roundhouse”TM.

The best part of the “Reese Roundhouse” was how he applied it.  I wanted to be mad at the dude but I couldn’t for two reasons.  1- he was right and 2-  he was charming and right.  As a matter of fact I enjoyed the beat down so much I think everyone needs to read it except for the “go gators” comment at the end.

Michael,

First of all, no one is ignoring you or I wouldn’t be posting this. I’m posting this because you sent me an “@” message on Twitter – the beginning of a conversation. This is exactly what Twitter was meant for. It wasn’t meant for every user to follow every other user or even just ‘thousands’ of them. If you follow too many people your stream becomes flooded and there’s no way to keep up with ANYONE. It’s just too many posts. Beyond a few hundred people Twitter becomes just NOISE. It’s impossible to keep up.

I have over 100,000 customers from around the world. If I follow one, based on the example that you gave since you bought my course (which btw I sincerely appreciate your business) then it’s only fair that I follow everyone that bought products from me. Again, resulting in me following so many people that I in essence end up FOLLOWING NO ONE because I can’t keep up with all the posts.

As far as me following you in the beginning so you’d buy one of my products, that wasn’t the case at all. In fact, when I got started on Twitter I contacted my existing customers and asked them to follow me and I’d auto-follow back (before I realized the pitfalls of doing that.) So it was never about following others with the false pretense of just getting them to buy something from me. Heck, I barely use Twitter as a promotional vehicle anyway. 99% of my tweets about my daily life and have nothing to do with business.

As I stated before, you don’t need someone to follow you to build a relationship with them on Twitter. That’s the beauty of Twitter. You can post an “@” message publicly and that person will see it in their replies. Many of the people I now follow are just friends – it has nothing to do with business. I certainly follow some other marketers that I *do* do business with, but many others are just friends.

As far as your experience so far with your efforts online, i.e. spending $5K on Adwords without a sale, all I can say is that you either have the wrong product and market match or your landing page is not converting. I would assume it’s the wrong product or at least how you positioned it for the keywords that you targeted. If you’re selling RE information (and it looks like you are) then I would suggest you do some competitive research and find out where your competitors are advertising. What keywords are they running AdWords ads for? What do their ads say? What does their landing page say? What are they actually selling? How are they selling it? What copy are they using? What funnel or business model do they appear to be using? Then simply EMULATE what they are doing.

I’m sorry that you took it personally that I unfollowed you. That was definitely not my intention. I had no choice because it was either unfollow everyone and just start over following a few friends (while at the same time having conversations with people that “@” messaged me) or it was stop using Twitter all together.

And one more thing…

GO GATORS! :-)

~John~

Can you argue with that?  I couldn’t.  I went back to every @ comment I sent the guy and he has always replied.

Lesson learned.  Now it’s time to sit back, enjoy a bit of feet up time, iTunes and catch the inside of my eyelids, so I thought.

Along comes Deborah Micek (@CoachDeb) CLICK HERE I have been following her tweets for a while, i enjoy them so much I send them to my iphone.  She and I have one thing in common; we change human behavior.

Along time ago a few of my friends and I sat down to draw up what we believe to be the best distance learning model.  Meaning, we could take anyone in the world and from a distance we could teach a concept and change their behaviors.  This is what we came up with.

Knowledge
Application
Accountability
Motivation
Time

This was our “coaching model”. I have used this for years on my clients and customers and it really works.   Give your client or student some knowledge.  Let them go out and apply (application) the knowledge, keep them motivated because we know that it’s almost impossible for a person to succeed on their own.  Hold the student accountable to the plan and goals that they have created and over time, their behavior would change and they would be successful.

If John Reese was the Roundhouse then Coach Deb was the Uppercut.  She blasts me with my own coaching model and probably didn’t even know it.  Her comment is a reminder of why we continue and learn instead of pout and fold.

Michael,
May I challenge you in re: to one thing that caught my attention as though you put it in bold?

You mentioned, “Lets face it after going down $5K on adwords without a sale and another few grand in training; i’m entitled to be a little bitter.”

Are you entitled to be a little bitter?

If you hold on to that belief – that will lead you down the wrong path.

I can practically Guarantee you, that Every one of the successful internet marketers that you refer to as being “ring leaders” or the “select few” ALSO failed as much (if not MORE) than they succeeded. But they ultimately cashed in BIG – because of nothing else other than this ONE thing….

They PERSISTED.

Despite the failures (aka: “learning lessons”) they kept going forward.

Also – no one really “selected” them other than – the people who bought their products/services because they did lay down the foundation and learn from their own mistakes (trial and error) and reduced the learning curve for the rest of us.

I share that because mindset is 80% of what drives the very successful business owner. And it begins here. No one is entitled in business ownership. That’s the risk we all face. It ain’t fun – and it ain’t pretty – it’s just the facts.

So – I ask you again…
Are you entitled to be a little bitter?
orrrr…
Are you entitled to be a little bit Better with each step of the way?
@CoachDeb

Here’s how it’s applied

1- you’ve learned some things with adwords (knowledge)
2- Adwords with no sales (applicaiton)
3- The successful persisted…80% of what drives the very successful (motivation)
4- orrrr…Are you entitled to be a little bit Better with each step of the way? (Accountability or Recommit To The Plan)
5- TIME – its alwasy there

Brilliant

I’m calling out everyone who claims to be a Guru or who has had Guru bestowed upon them.  May you all follow suit and “conversate” when @’ed through Twitter.  In the mean time go buy John and Coach Deb’s stuff.

John Reese – I’m Calling You Out

Did you read this semi pile of BS????

From the blog of John Reese
“A couple of days ago, I unfollowed over 30,000 people on Twitter.  Many people are wondering WHY.  And this blog post explains why”  To read the whole Blog follow the link at the bottom of my post.

John and I, we got history
Honestly we met at 3:36 AM on my iphone.  I was struggling with a case of L.I.D. (Lower Intestinal Distress) deleting junk mail from my iphone.  I don’t know why but I started to read his email that morning and I was intrigued by its message.  I made my self a task in Omni Focus to do a little research and found out that the world claimed he is one of the best internet marketers on the globe.  I read some of his free stuff which put me on his list for Traffic Secrets 2.0.  I bought his course and inside was a FREE DVD from Frank Kern called core influence.  Core influence is one of the best 90 minutes you can spend with yourself.  This DVD change my entire seminar presentation style, content and sales pitch.

I followed John on Twitter, he followed me back @michaelacord.  I teased him about the Utah Utes being National Champions, since his beloved gators had lost a game and the Utes blew through Alabama like they were a pop warner team.  I asked some advice, he gave it to me and all this time I thought we were tight.  Then I found out that I was unfollowed along with most of the world and that he was going to limit the people he followed to “core people”.

“So let me get this straight, I was good enough to follow because you were looking for people to buy your course and now that I’ve bought your course I’m not.”

In a sarcastic post a few weeks ago, I claimed that the internet is controlled by a select few and I named John Reece as one of the “ring leaders.”  These guys are becoming like CNN.  Their flow chart to internet stardom is conflicting and confusing. “First you need a lot of twitter followers, a facebook account, YouTube and all the other social networks.  You need to sign up for my Affiliate Service, get an an auto responder, a give away product and you better reserve your spot at my next event.”

The mass confusion and subconscience noise has pushed me and a few others to abandon “the typical internet business.”  Lets face it after going down $5K on adwords without a sale and another few grand in training; i’m entitled to be a little bitter.  To date I’ve made $120.00 on the web, a referral check from Infusionsoft.  Now I write stuff and post stuff that entertains me more than anyone else and if you haven’t read my blog title – you should it’s true.

Lets be fair, John has a couple of good points about the spam and junk and noise on Twitter but what about the internet nobody who is really trying to develop relationships?  If all the Guru’s only followed each other and that’s what it’s starting to look like, how is the little guy going to compete?  This would only produce a follower / following of no-ones trying to help each other and I’ll be the first to protest your next launch.  You need me to buy your stuff and I need you to teach me all the how-to’s.  Don’t delete me, we need each other.

Opt In4 Life

I want to congratulate my brother in law John, after many months of persuasion he finally agreed to take on a staff position with http://www.opt-in4life.com/ There mission is to “put you in the best shape of your life.”

It was never about money, it was about time.  John has his own business, Elements Wilderness Program, He volunteers with Bikes For Kids, Is an academic booster at his daughter’s college and is an athletic booster at his son’s college.

The man is an aquatic machine.  We spend a week ever year on vacation and for his “relaxation time” John swims a mile ever day.  Every other day he does two miles, one in the morning and one at dusk.  If I told you his age you wouldn’t believe me, you’d call me a liar so why try and debate it. Some have said that he’s not human; I have seen 20 year old’s attempt to compete only to be left behind treading water in their own vomit.  I’m not trying to gross you out but it is what it is.

Last Friday I got a nasty gram from a big name Internet Guru who proceeded to argue, via a letter on why I shouldn’t embed YouTube Videos on my websites.  Allow me to entertain you with some of his comments.  “A real internet Marketer would never use YouTube to host their videos.  YouTube’s purpose is to entertain the masses and any marketer who is serious about their business knows this.  If your serious you should consider Amazon’s S3 system.”

First off, I’m a nobody.  I only have 4 readers two of which are my parents.  Second – I chose YouTube because of the 21.4 million iphones that are currently being used; that’s only the phone and not the itouch.  Iphone users can see my videos remotely at anytime right on their phones. Third – I use Amazon to host my videos that I don’t want the world to see.  Most of those videos sit in my members area and I have some secret files with some naughty time with the Mrs.  (I’m kidding……mom)

When I first started using video, I was concerned about branding but I soon learned that the numbers made YouTube a smart choice because of it’s mobile function.

Today I shoot most of my video with my Flip Mino HD, edit in iMovie and then send it up to youtube.  iMovie’s a lot easier to work with than Final Cut Express 4.0 when it comes to footage shot on the flip.  FCE requires a lot of rendering when it comes to the MP4 format.  iMovie allows me to increase the sometimes soft audio from a Flip video up to 200 X’s.

Here is my Puppy on YouTube

This week has been a Super Bad eating week!  The good news is that my good friend Mr. Blake introduced me to “The Carb Blocker”  This is a supplement taken 60 minute before your meals.  It absorbs some of the Carbs and Fats which was a huge help with the terrible eating.

In case you forgot I have a tri-athlete brother-in-law who will sometimes partner with other athletes in medley events.  Since he has and still does hold world records in multiple age groups and at multiple distances in swimming, he would obiously compete in the swim and his partners would compete in either the bike or the run.

A week ago I started to put some thought into trying out as one of his partners on the bike.  I have been hitting the mountain biking course pretty hard, I’m up to 12 miles now and that has help in burning some of the bad eating calories.

I discovered Dove Dark Chocolate with Almonds last week which was the main reason for Mr. Blake’s product introduction.
